Buhari tells Nigerians in South Africa to respect themselves...

During his visit to Nigerian residents in South Africa yesterday, President Buhari told them to conduct themselves with respect in the country, promising to look into how to strengthen Nigeria's relationship with South Africa and also look into the recent Xenophobic attacks. "Those of you who have the opportunity to come here and represent us, make sure that you are representing Nigeria, you are all ambassadors of Nigeria. This means a lot of patience, restraint and self-respect and pride. You must have all these.” Speaking about what he plans to do to make Nigeria better, president Buhari said “Government is determined to secure the country, manage the economy, create employment and fight corruption. Some articulate writers have said if we do not kill corruption in Nigeria, corruption will kill Nigeria. This APC administration intends to kill corruption in Nigeria. We will do our best, I assure you."

Kidnapped Ondo regent regains freedom

The regent of Akungba Akoko township in Ondo state, Princess Mojisola Omosowon who was kidnapped by unknown gunmen along the Owo-Akure road in Ondo state on June 3rd has regained her freedom. A team of police officers and state security service officers rescued the regent in Edo. Princess Omosowon was kidnapped along with her driver while on her way to attend the inaugural lecture of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) in Akure, the Ondo state capital.

Over 31 civilians, mostly children,women and elderly leaving Rahman Mosque were killed by rebel shelling in Aleppo, Syria, yesterday. And over a 100 wounded. "These terrorists were shelling civilians and Muslims learning how to recite the Koran. The aim is to terrorise people," Information Minister Omran al-Zubi told state television.The Syrian army and rebels have been fighting for months in Aleppo, which was the country's economic and industrial hub before rebels took over the northeastern parts of the city in July 2012.

Immediate past governor of Jigawa state, Alhaji Sule Lamido, who has been accused of conspiring with his sons, Aminu and Mustapha Lamido to steal about N1.3 billion from his state while he was governor, returned to Nigeria yesterday June 15th. He went on holiday immediately after handing over power to the new governor. When he returned yesterday, he was welcomed by his teaming supporters at the Dutse International Airport. Alhaji Lamido while responding to questions from newsmen at his home in Bamaina village in Birninkudu Local Government area of the state said he is aware of the EFCC invitation and he will be honoring it. “I am aware of the invitation.’’he said He said that EFCC is an antigraft agency of the government, recognized by law, therefore, he would not shun the invitation. He added that he will be honoring the invitation on Thursday June 18th.
