UCL: Manchester United 1-0 Cska Moscow- Result

Manchester United’s dismal form in front of goal was brought to a timely end as Wayne Rooney’s second-half header sealed a narrow 1-0 victory over CSKA Moscow at Old Trafford.

Six hours and 44 minutes of football had elapsed since United last found the back of the net, coincidentally in the reverse fixture against CSKA in Moscow, before Rooney headed Jesse Lingard’s cross home on 79 minutes.

Despite United dominating large spells, the game hinged on an action-packed minute prior to Rooney’s goal, with David de Gea and Chris Smalling both denying Seydou Doumbia with last-gasp blocks before the hosts forced the breakthrough.

And the victory proved to be vital in terms of the Reds’ Champions League hopes, moving them into top spot of Group B with ties against PSV and Wolfsburg remaining.

UCL: Arsenal Star Ruled Out Of Bayern Clash With Injury

Agency Report

Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Spanish defender Hector Bellerin will miss the Gunners’ Champions League clash with Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

The full-back was not part of the travelling party that flew to Munich on Tuesday afternoon, because he’s struggling with a groin strain. French defender Mathieu Debuchy is set to deputise.

“From Saturday we lost [Hector] Bellerin who will not be available tomorrow,” said Wenger.

“We have to wait. It’s not a big problem, but a small groin problem.

“I have confidence and trust in him [Debuchy]. Physically, he should be ready.”

The 20-year-old becomes the ninth member of Wenger’s first-team squad on the sidelines, including England pair Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The Three Best Players I Played With At Liverpool – Steven Gerrard

More excerpts of Steven Gerrard’s autobiography titled ‘My Story’ have been published. In the latest excerpts, Gerrad reveals that the three greatest players to line-up beside him for Liverpool were Xabi Alonso, Luis Suarez and Fernando Torres.
The former Liverpool and England captain also revealed how disgruntled he was by former teammate El Hadji Diouf’s on and off the field antics.
Steven Gerrard celebrates a goal
The LA Galaxy midfielder also revealed in his new book that his first instinct told him Mario Balotelli would be a ‘failure’ at Liverpool. The Daily Mail UK published parts of the book.
ON THE BEST AND WORST PLAYERS HE PLAYED WITH AT LIVERPOOL
“I had seen a staggering number of new signings walk into the Liverpool training ground. I watched every single one of their first training sessions with close attention, wondering whether we’d bought a star or another dud, a king or a prat, a Xabi Alonso or an El Hadji Diouf, a Luis Suarez or a Mario Balotelli.
“Three players stand out in my time at Liverpool. They all speak Spanish. Each of them unleashes a wave of emotion in me and in every Liverpool supporter: Fernando Torres. Xabi Alonso. Luis Suarez.
El Hadji Diouf felt the brunt of Gerrard in his new book
“It was clear Alonso was royalty after our first training session together in August 2004, and Rafa Benitez, who had been so clever to buy him in the first place, was equally stupid to sell him to Real Madrid five years later. He was, by some distance, the best central midfielder I ever played alongside.”
BAD DECISION TO SELL XABI ALONSO
“It was a disastrous decision to sell Alonso, and especially for just £30million — which looks a snip now when you reflect on all he has achieved subsequently, both at Real Madrid and Bayern Munich and with Spain, winning the Euros and the World Cup. I blame Rafa entirely for the loss of Alonso. He could still have been playing for Liverpool six or seven years after he left in 2009.”
Gerrard and Alonso had five great years for Liverpool
SUAREZ AND TORRES WERE GREAT PLAYERS
“I think more about the special players we lost — Alonso, Torres and Suarez — than the terrible signings with which we got lumbered.
“Suarez, who ran and pressed and fought for the ball and ran again — while producing extraordinary moves and sublime goals. There was a sustained period when playing with Luis was like being under a magical spell. He blew me away with his talent.
“Fernando came the closest to matching Luis. I had two years with Fernando when he made me feel invincible. I always knew where he was, where he was going to move next. I’m not a natural No 10 but, for a couple of years, Fernando helped me become one. I had my best season then, as a No 10, and that was down to Fernando in 2007-08.
Xabi Alonso and Fernando Torres
“But, ultimately, Luis stands out. I would have loved to have played with Luis when I was a lot younger, and peaking, as we could have been phenomenal together for years. That’s my only tinge of regret with Suarez.
“Here’s an example of what he did for me. On March 13, 2012 I scored a hat-trick at Anfield against Everton. It was the first hat-trick in 30 years of Merseyside derbies, since Ian Rush scored three at Goodison Park in 1982. It was made even better by the selfless magic Suarez sprinkled over me that night. Luis is no saint — and I’m not sure he would have done the same for Daniel Sturridge. There was always a little bit of needling rivalry between Sturridge and Suarez.
Suarez and Sturridge needed each other
“But when it came to me, especially against Everton, Luis went out of his way. He helped Liverpool – and me – play like kings.
“All the people who revile Suarez, never having met him, might be surprised if they had the chance to benefit from his unselfish willingness to sacrifice himself for his team. He will run himself into the ground. He scores goals. He creates goals. He’s hard and horrible to play against. He’s right up for it. You’ve got a chance of beating anyone in the world with Luis Suarez in your team.”
“Not every Liverpool signing worked out like that.”

EL HADJI DIOUF ANGERED GERRARD
“Of the bad ones, I don’t really want to waste time thinking about El Hadji Diouf but it’s worth highlighting his wasted seasons at Liverpool as an example of how it can all go wrong.
“Gerard Houllier, a very good manager and a usually wise judge of character, signed Diouf in the summer of 2002. Gerard bought Diouf for £10m from Lens – solely on the recommendation of his former assistant, Patrice Bergues, who had coached Diouf there.
“I understood why Gerard rushed through the signing, but he did not really know Diouf as a person. He was one of three new signings which were meant to turn Liverpool into Premier League champions.
“We had finished as runners-up to Manchester United the season before and a combination of Diouf, Salif Diao and Bruno Cheyrou was supposed to drive us to the title. It was probably the biggest waste of £18m in Liverpool’s history.
Gerrard’s latest book
“We finished the season in fifth place and Diouf had sealed his place at the top of the list of Liverpool signings I liked least.
“It seemed to me that Diouf had no real interest in football and that he cared nothing about Liverpool. For example, the way he spat a huge globule of gunky phlegm at a Celtic fan in a UEFA Cup match at Parkhead in March 2003 summed up his contemptuous and spiteful demeanour.
BALOTELLI WAS NOT DIOUF BUT HE WAS NOT A STRONG CHARACTER
“A few people have since asked me if I saw any comparison between Diouf and Mario Balotelli – and I’ve always said no. I’ve got respect for Balotelli; I’ve got none for Diouf.
“Balotelli can be endearing sometimes — and that’s never a trait that you would associate with Diouf. The only positive aspect of the otherwise ugly signing of Diouf is that he worked hard on the pitch. He always wanted the ball, and he never hid.
“But after a while I decided Diouf simply wasn’t your usual footballer. It seemed to me as if football got in the way of his social life.
“At least Balotelli could still make me smile sometimes, I have a small hope that, one day, his career might work out and he can prove his potential on a regular basis.
HOW LIVERPOOL SIGNED BALOTELLI
“In my last season, Brendan Rodgers came to me at Melwood one day in mid-August. We had a chat on the training pitch. He said, ‘You know we’ve missed out on a couple of signings. I’m basically left with no option but to have a bit of a gamble.’
“Brendan paused before he spoke again: ‘The gamble is Mario Balotelli.’ My instant reaction was, ‘Uh-oh.’
“I’d never met Balotelli but I’d heard all the stories about the indoor fireworks and Jose Mourinho describing him as an ‘unmanageable’ player. I could see that, in the right mood, he was a quality footballer but the rest of his career seemed like a spectacular waste of talent. That was my opinion of Balotelli.
“But I also had to admit that, when he played for Italy, he seemed able to switch on his gift like he was snapping on a bright light. When he scored the winner against England in the 2014 World Cup a month earlier he showed all the movement which made him so difficult to mark at his best. I told Brendan that, up close to him on the pitch, you could see that he was a big, powerful guy.
“Brendan must have sensed my underlying reservations because he spoke a little more about why he thought it could be worth the risk. Brendan implied that Balotelli didn’t have anywhere else to go — and it seemed as if Liverpool would be Balotelli’s last chance to shine at a major club.
“He would be offered a strict contract. Any bad behaviour would be punished.
Gerrad and Balotelli in 2014
“I reminded myself that I had always allowed every new player to come into the club with a clean slate. Balotelli’s reputation tested that resolve but I tried my best to be open-minded. He made an immediate impression when we were doing work on our defensive set pieces and Balotelli said to Brendan: ‘I don’t mark on corners. I can’t.’
“I nearly fell into the goalpost. I was thinking, ‘What are you? Six foot three, and one of the strongest men I’ve ever seen on a football pitch? And you can’t mark on a corner?’
“Brendan was very firm. He said to Balotelli: ‘Well, you can now – and if you can’t then you’re going to learn.’
“That was the first conflict between Brendan and Balotelli, on day one, but the manager stood up to Mario really well. From that point, Balotelli started marking on corners.
“He made his Liverpool debut on August 31, 2014 away to Tottenham, and he did well. We won 3-0. He wasn’t outstanding but he worked hard and even looked like a team player. It would not last.
“Daniel Sturridge was injured 10 days later, while training with England. He would be out for many weeks.
“Suddenly the Mario gamble was in jeopardy – because I knew that Balotelli would simply not put in the work we needed from a lone striker.
“Everything became more tangled and more difficult. Away to Basel in the Champions League, Balotelli started the game and he was hopeless.
“After his promising debut against Tottenham he had lapsed in training and the subsequent games. His demeanour was very poor. I made up my mind pretty quickly after that about Balotelli.
“There was no friction between us. We got on fine. I still tried to help him and I kept looking for chances to praise him.
“But I could see Mourinho had been right when he said Balotelli is unmanageable. He is very talented with the potential to be world class, but he’ll never get there because of his mentality and the people around him.
“Balotelli’s always late, he always wants attention, he says the wrong things on social media. For me, he doesn’t work hard enough on a daily basis. You’re always fighting a losing battle with Balotelli.
“He does too many things wrong.

I Wish Mourinho Chose Liverpool Over Chelsea - Gerrard

Jose Mourinho has little friends in the world of football probably because of his success, his arrogance (he once called himself the Special one) or his abilities as a coach.
While some despise him, others admire him. One of those who fall into the latter group is Liverpool legend, Steven Gerrard, who in his biography, wished Mourinho was his manager at the Meryerside club.
The LA Galaxy man assumed that if Mourinho had ever chosen Liverpool over Chelsea in 2004 he would have delivered more success to the club.
Excerpts of the his autobiography pubished by the Daily Mail reads: “For me, the ideal situation would obviously have been for Mourinho to have managed Liverpool. He was linked with a move to Anfield a couple of times but it never materialised. I know I’m biased, but I think it would have been a perfect match.
“The Liverpool fans would have loved him and he would have known exactly how to turn that love into adoration. Jose would have had a fantastic time bringing huge success to Liverpool.”
He revealed that Chelsea tempted him the most regarding a move from Liverpool. According to the English man not even Real Madrid’s tempting offer could match Jose Mourinho’s lure.
Gerrard said: “When I was playing my best football, probably in 2006 and even in 2009, there were some big chances to leave: Chelsea again; Real Madrid twice — and the second time was more tempting because, once more, Mourinho wanted me.
“Playing for Jose in the white shirt of Real Madrid, at the Bernabeu? Only Liverpool could have made me say ‘no’ again. I had come so close to leaving Liverpool for Chelsea in 2005. The reason I stayed was that Liverpool meant so much to me both as a club and as a city. Chelsea and London didn’t mean anything.
“During those distressing days when I felt so torn about whether or not I should stay or go I never once thought to myself, ‘I want to play for Chelsea instead of Liverpool’.
“My head was almost turned because I was thinking, ‘I’d love to play for Jose Mourinho’. I was certain that, under Jose, I would win all the trophies I craved.”
In a related development, Mourinho has revealed he had no hand in the signing of Senegalese Papy Djilobodji.
Djilobodji was signed by the EPL champions on deadline day for a reported fee of £4million but according to Mourinho, the capture of the big centre back was the choice of someone he trust completely.

Mourinho Eyes Wenger’s Job, Welcomes Arsenal Move

The Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho may be considering a move away from Stamford Bridge following his team’s poor start to the season.
This follows reports that the 52-year-old surprisingly has his eyes glued to Arsene Wenger’s job.
Mourinho in a chat with newsmen welcomed the possibility of becoming Arsenal’s next manager.
Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho, snubbed Arsene Wenger, during his tean’s Community Shield defeat to Arsenal
When asked by Celebrity Arsenal fan Piers Morgan if he could become the Gunners’ next manager, Mourinho is quoted by the Daily Mail as saying: “Let me put it like this: one day I will leave Chelsea and when I do I will continue living in London.
“There are a number of other opportunities for a manager in London – Fulham, QPR, West Ham, Spurs, the England national team… and Arsenal.”
After ruling out the possibility of taking over a team who aren’t in the Champions League, Mourinho is reported to have continued: “We are left with two options, yes? Arsenal and the England national team.”
Over the years, as the relationship between Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho soured, it has become clear that the pair cannot stand to be in the same room.
In October 2014 they almost came to blows on the touchline when Wenger shoved Mourinho during a feisty match at Stamford Bridge.
The most recent of their feisty relationship came during the Gunners’ Community Shield win last month as they both snubbed each other after the game.
Meanwhile, Chelsea has been able to pick up just 4 points after 5 games and this doesn’t look good for Coach Jose Mourinho.

Cech To Join Man U As David De Gea Agrees Terms With Real Madrid

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea is poised to leave Old Trafford this summer after agreeing personal terms with Real Madrid, according to reports in Spain. Marca are reporting that the 24-year-old star has reached an agreement with the La Liga giants for a deal worth around £4million a year after tax and believed to be between five and six years in length. The Madrid-based newspaper also suggests that the only thing missing in the deal is for United and Madrid to agree a fee for the player. It could reach upwards of £30m.De Gea was pictured on a flight to Madrid earlier this week as he took some time off, leading to reports that he was in fact on his way to sign for Los Blancos. Louis van Gaal is targeting a move for Petr Cech after claims that David de Gea will join Real Madrid this summer. The Manchester United manager admits he is already preparing for the Spanish goalkeeper’s potential exit.

Bayern can pull off Barca shock – Guardiola

Pep Guardiola
Pep Guardiola believes Bayern Munich’s star-studded squad has the quality to overturn a three-goal deficit to shock Barcelona in Tuesday’s Champions League semi-final, second-leg despite their four-match losing streak, AFP reports.
Bayern are chasing a miracle at the Allianz Arena after their humbling 3-0 first-leg defeat last Wednesday when Lionel Messi capped a dazzling display with two goals to sour Guardiola’s return to Barcelona’s Camp Nou.
No team has ever over-turned a three-goal deficit in a European semi-final.
With his side staring down the barrel of a semi-final exit for the second year running, Guardiola knows Bayern can ill afford to throw caution to the wind against a Barcelona attack boasting Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez.
But he believes they can shock the Spanish league leaders.
“Push forward, push forward? No! We have to defend well and control the game,” said the 44-year-old, who has denied rumours linking him to Manchester City for next season.
“There is no problem with this team’s mentality.
“There are six or seven guys in the squad who have won the World Cup and they know what needs to be done.
“It’s not enough to have the most possession and defend well, you also have to create chances against Barcelona.
“If we make a mistake, they will punish it.
“We have to take the chances we create, it won’t be easy, but with the quality we have, we’ll see what happens.”
One factor in Bayern’s favour is that they emphatically turned their 3-1 quarter-final, first-leg defeat at Porto into a 6-1 rout in Munich with five goals in the opening 45 minutes.
But a fortnight on, Bayern are on a four-match losing streak, although Guardiola insists confidence is not a problem.
“The players have showed that they want this,” said the Spaniard.
“We turned around a 3-1 against Porto, but this is completely different.
“It’s a huge challenge, but we will try.”
Barcelona arrive with a significant advantage in their bid for a first victory in the Bavarian capital.
Strangely, Barca couch Luis Enrique has insisted “it doesn’t look good for us”, but Guardiola admits he would have said the same thing if the roles were reversed.
“As a coach, you don’t know what will happen, I would have said the same in his position,” said Guardiola.
“We are Bayern Munich. I have never thought before a game that we have no chance.”

Rotimi stole my €43,000 necklace – Adebayor

Emmanuel Adebayor
Tottenham Hotspur forward, Emmanuel Adebayor, has accused his younger brother, Rotimi, of stealing shirts given to him by late Cameroonian striker, Marc Vivien Foe and French football legend, Zinedine Zidane and a necklace worth €45,000.
The 31-year-old in a latest post on his Facebook page, made good his promise to reveal more atrocities committed by his brother in an earlier post, which had generated diverse opinions from followers of the Adebayor-family feud.
The Togolese star had in a post last Tuesday accused different family members of different crimes but had particularly accused Rotimi of stealing 21 phones from other players in an academy, where he was enrolled to learn football.
In the latest post, released on Sunday, Adebayor explained in detail all the things Rotimi had stolen repeatedly from him and their mother’s reaction. He also promised to reveal more about his elder brother, Kola, in his next post.
He wrote, “Here is another part of the story I have kept inside since. This is about a brother who keeps saying today that I am not a good support for our family. His name is Rotimi Adebayor.
“In 2002, I went to play the AFCON in Mali and I had the huge privilege to swap my shirt with Marc-Vivien Foé (May his soul rest in peace) When I got back to Togo, I put that shirt in a secure place. My brother found a way to steal that shirt and sold it.
“When I moved from Metz to Monaco, we reached an advanced stage in the Champions League and we played against Real Madrid. It was one of most beautiful day of my life because I was lucky enough to get a signed shirt from the football legend Zinedine Zidane. As I brought that shirt back to Togo, my brother still found a way to steal that shirt and sold it.
“When I was in Metz, I was earning about €15,000 a month. I wanted to get something unique for my mom to thank her for all she did for me. I wanted to make her happy. So I decided to take an amount worth 3 months of my wages and I bought her a Cartier necklace for about €45,000.
“Rotimi and his friends Akim and Tao made a plan and stole that precious necklace. They sold it for about €800. When my mom and I found out, my mother asked me not to bother because he is the younger brother.
“In my house, I have a storage room where I keep some of my belongings when I travel back to Europe. I am the only one with that key but my brother managed to get a master key that was able to open every single door in the house. He frequently stole drinks and other items from that room.
“By the way, after I published the first story about him, he called me to say that he did not steal exactly 21 phones. He claimed that the number was lower than that. Still…Is that acceptable? He also added that I should be happy that he stole drinks and other items from my storage room. I asked him why and he replied: “Because I am your brother”.”
Adebayor added how Rotimi stole a Play Station Portable from former Cameroon footballer, Jacques Songo’O’s son, who was an academy teammate of his, adding that the incident fouled the relationship between the two families.
“I was still in Monaco when I decided to collect all football boots from my teammates so I could give them to people in Africa. I had a huge bag full of shoes. I brought that bag to Togo. A few days after when I decided to give the boots out to the people in need, I noticed the bag full of boots disappeared. Later on, I found out that my brother was the one who stole the bag and went to sell the shoes in Hedzranawoé (famous public market in Togo).
“The part 3 is coming out soon and it will be about the man that calls himself the father of the family Kola Adebayor A.K.A Lion of Judah.”

Photo Of Late Gen.Sani Abacha A Day Before He Died

A picture of former military ruler, Gen Sani Abacha with former Palestine leader, Yasser Arafat taken on Sunday, June 7, 1998, a day before he died on June 8, 1998 has gone viral.
Abacha died while at the presidential villa in Abuja. He was buried on the same day, according to Muslim tradition, without an autopsy.
This led to speculation that he may have been executed extra judicially by way of being poisoned by political rivals via prostitutes.

The government identified the cause of death as a sudden heart attack. It is reported that he was in the company of two Indian prostitutes imported from Dubai. It is thought that the prostitutes laced his drink with a poisonous substance, making Abacha feel unwell around 4:30am. He retired to his bed and was dead by 6:15am.
It was recently revealed that a new loot of $370 million has been traced to the former Military Head of State, late Sani Abacha in Luxembourg.
